Pet-Friendly Locations in Morristown, NJ

Where does the time go? With September just around the corner, summertime is nearly at its end. Before the cold, blustery weather returns, make it a priority to spend some quality outdoor time with your pet.

If you live in Morristown, New Jersey, you have tons of options for what that outdoor time can entail. You don’t just have to leash up your dog and take them for a walk around the block. There are plenty of dog-friendly places and activities in your neighborhood you may not have even known about.

Here are five of them worth doing before September arrives!

Pet-Friendly Locations in Morristown, NJ

1. The Traction Line Recreation Trail

Morristown’s Traction Line Recreation Trail is a nonprofit Rails-to-Trails Conservancy-sponsored area. This trail, which is part of 1,600 other rail-trails the organization provides around the country, is home to many fun activities. As you walk your dog through the spacious paths, you may see others cross-country skiing, inline skating, or biking.

2. Lewis Morris Dog Park

Fido can make dozens of new doggy friends when you take him or her to the Lewis Morris Dog Park on 270 Mendham Road. No leashes allowed here; your pup is meant to roam free! If you have a smaller pet, there’s a specific area where these dogs can play. The main area of the park includes grassy knolls and macadam surfaces. You can also use waste bags the dog park graciously offers.

3. The Mall at Short Hills

A short trek away (no pun intended) from Morristown, The Mall at Short Hills on 1200 Morris Turnpike is totally dog-friendly. If you plan on visiting specific stores, you may want to call ahead and ask if you can bring your dog, though. You will have to keep Fido out of the food court, but otherwise, with dog strollers available for rent (that can accommodate dogs up to 45 pounds) your pup won’t have to tire out their legs while you enjoy some retail therapy.

According to some visitors, your pup may even get a dog-friendly cookie to satiate their appetite!

4. The Westin Governor Morris, Morristown

It’s been a long day, and you could sure use a rest. Maybe you’re visiting Morristown from out-of-town, or, even if you live here, you want to explore one of the town’s great hotels in the historic district.

Bring your dog with you to the Westin Governor Morris, Morristown on 2 Whippany Road. While not cat-friendly, this hotel will make your dog feel like a pampered, welcome guest. You will have to pay $100 extra for your four-legged friend, and they must weigh up to 40 pounds.

Have two dogs? No problem. The Westin Governor Morris, Morristown allows up to two dogs. Other amenities include wheelchair accessibility, a swimming pool, an onsite restaurant, non-smoking rooms, family rooms, a full fitness center, a connected business center with a data port, free high-speed Internet, and meeting rooms.

5. Pure Pita

Whew! All those activities sure worked up your appetite (not to mention your dogs appetite!). If you’re looking for a pet-friendly restaurant around the neighborhood to grab a bite to eat, come visit Pure Pita. This Mediterranean restaurant is full of fresh, flavorful eats that will restore your energy and reinvigorate your spirits.

Enjoy outdoor seating with your pup and try popular dishes like the filling quinoa tabbouleh (with mint, cucumbers, scallions, tomatoes, and parsley), the tasty lamb gyro rotisserie (which includes picked turnips, roasted tomatoes and onions, fresh herbs, and citrus), or the juicy Pure Pita special falafel burger (with a touch of sriracha yogurt and feta cheese).

If your dog happens to eat a bit of your meal, we won’t tell anyone. After all, it’s totally healthy stuff!
